What Gear to Take on a Motorcycle Trip

Author: Teemu Valkeapaabr
Source: ezinearticles.combr
br
What gear to take on a motorcycle trip, is a never-ending discussion, and, as always, you wont need half of what you took. A couple of days ago I made a 11 days road trip, sleeping in a tent, so I write down here what Ireally needed and what was unnecessary.

There was not the usual 50% of over-packing, so the selection process actually went quite good. Only item with a clear overload factor were underwears and t-shirts. As Iused camping grounds with showers, clothes lasted longer than anticipated.

Items that were needed: Tent, 2 sleeping pads (one air mattress, one ordinary), sleeping bag, some clean underwear, a swiss army knife, matches, motorcycle tools, 2 pairs of boots, rain gear, roll of cord, paper map, GPS, hygiene products.

Items that were not needed: a fuel burner to cook food, 70% of the socks and t-shirts, spare parts for the bike.

There were also some items that were not needed but which Iwould not dare to leave home, like the first aid kit, spare bulbs for lights and turn signals, spare spark plugs and a roll of duct tape. And, of course, a good insurance policy that has a free towing service. All of the tools for the bike were obviously not needed, but you should really bring enough to be able to tighten every possible nut and bolt that you can on the road. As they will loosen themselves at some point, and a good selection of sockets and spanners can really help you out.

Chevrolet Impala Insurance

Author: Danny Carlsonbr
Source: ezinearticles.combr
br
The Chevrolet impala first went out into assembly in the year 1958. It was the easy on the pocket yet prestige car at the time. 50 years down the line, the impala has become one of the most seen nameplates on the roads in America. The big size sedan has served well to its customers and can easily transport up to six persons at a time. It is powered by a V6 engine nowadays and carries forward the tradition of being a Chevrolet family sedan.

Chevrolet impala insurance has never been an issue. Its a complete family sedan and the Chevrolet impala insurance is always easy on the pocket and never a trouble to bargain. the current Chevrolet impala models available include the entry level Slither LT and the 2LT,the LTZ and the performance oriented SS. Chevrolet impala insurance gets easier as antilock brakes, traction control, front seat side airbags and the side curtain airbags come as standard inclusions in all the Chevy impala models. The safety aspect of the impala has greatly improved and so has the mileage aspect. With a better V6 engine and the option of a V8 as well, the impala offers a lot of choices and scores over its predecessors. The hood has a 3.5-liter producing 211 horsepower in the V6 and the V8 is a 5.8-liter big engine giving an oh-so-impressive 303 hp and 323 pound feet of torque. All the cars come with the option of a 4-speed automatic transmission.

The impala is very good on the pocket and gives good fuel efficiency. On long distance trips, itmay even touch up to 31 miles per gallon. Handling and comfort are two key aspects the car does not disappoint on.

Insurance of a car depends on several factors and the basic feature in the difference in car insurance prices comes from calculating the risk of the driver. A high risk driver shall have a much higher rate than a lower risk driver.

International Travel Insurance – Dont Leave Home Without It

Author: Jim Grayson -br
Source: articledashboard.combr
br
Does this sound familiar? Youve saved and saved for that perfect vacation youve always dreamt about. Youre in the travel agents office, youve just purchased your very expensive ticket and shes saying that you should buy some international travel insurance too. You roll your eyes because youre sure all this international travel insurance business is nonsense and shes just trying to get some more of your money. You say no thanks. While on your vacation, you crash your car and get hurt. Guess what? Youve got to foot all the expenses yourself and because you didnt want to get international travel insurance.

For those of you who arent familiar with it, international travel insurance is a must have if you intend to travel out of your own country. Since youre not familiar, right about now youre probably asking what international travel insurance is. Simply put, it is a temporary insurance policy which you buy before you leave on your trip. Typically, coverage lasts the full duration of your trip but, depending on who youre insured with, your international travel insurance can be extended for up to 12 months.

A lot of people couldnt be bothered with the added expense but there is always the small possibility that something can happen. A good international travel insurance policy will provide three things: good coverage at a reasonable price, readily available emergency assistance and efficient claims processing. It should also cover most circumstances. Your international travel insurance isnt adequate if it doesnt cover medical expenses, medical evacuation, travel cancellation and deferment costs, loss of luggage, rental vehicle expenses, death expenses, personal liability and legal expenses.

There is most often a need for international travel health insurance, to cover medical expenses. This can include hospital stays, medication and doctors fees. However, international travel health insurance is a godsend in more critical situations as it also covers ambulance services and emergency-related travel expenses, which is especially important in third world countries where supplies are limited and you may need to be transported to another country.

While you may not think that the cost of such international travel health insurance coverage is justified for a short, weekend trip, if youre going to be hiking through malaria infested forests over those two days, you might want to think again. Use your discretion. Its much better to be prepared for a possible emergency than to fall ill or get injured and not have any international travel health insurance coverage./pbr

Staying at Home? Youll Need Travel Insurance

Author: Patrick Chongbr
Source: ezinearticles.combr
br
Its a common misconception that accidents are more likely to happen abroad. Whilst youre probably a lot less likely to encounter Delhi belly in Dartmouth or overdo it on the sangria in Scunthorpe there is still a great deal than can go wrong on a United Kingdom holiday, and were not just talking about the weather. With UK travelers taking 50 million domestic breaks a year and spending more than £10.9billion a cheap holiday insurance can save you so much hassle.

Most of the problems that you will encounter on a foreign break are still relevant if youre traveling in the United Kingdom. Low cost airlines mean that it is often cheaper to travel by aircraft than it is by train or car and airports are notorious breeding grounds for holiday related bad luck, with lost passports, delayed flights, mislaid baggage and even the threat of terrorism still possible when traveling domestically. If you travel a lot within the confines of the United Kingdom for business or pleasure then it may be worth taking out an annual holiday insurance policy which would cover you in the event of any of the above situations occurring whilst on your domestic break.

But even if youre not flying travel insurance is still a must. You may have booked two weeks off work since January with the intention of staying in a log cabin in the Lake District, but if a family member or a loved one is suddenly taken ill and you can no longer make the trip then without travel insurance you are likely to lose a great deal of money. The same situation occurs in the workplace if your boss or a colleague falls ill and you are needed to cover for them then a lack of travel insurance could end up being a huge problem.

The medical aspect of travel insurance is one of the most important to consider when traveling abroad where foreign medical care is costly and your trusty EHIC card still means that you have to pay a percentage of your medical costs. When traveling in the United Kingdom you may think that the NHS means that you will receive all the medical care and attention you need, and you would be correct except for the small fact that it wont necessary be in a hospital near your friends and family. So if you live in Motherwell and are holidaying in Minehead then without holiday insurance you would be treated in a NHS hospital in Somerset, meaning a long trek for your friends and family and many wilted bunches of grapes as a treat for you.

When you look at everything that could go wrong, holding a valid holiday insurance policy seems a small price to pay for peace of mind.

Renting a Car–How to Survive Financially!

Author: Larry Dentonbr
Source: articleage.combr
br
Car rental agencies, along with other factors, have played a
vital role in increasing the ease of traveling whether for
business or pleasure. The ability to rent a vehicle of nearly
any style, size and model at reasonable rates has been a boon to
travelers, world-wide. The process of renting a car, however,
can be about as daunting as buying a used car. You should
proceed very carefully, armed with knowledge about the rental
industry and information about your specific needs.

In short, there are four different kinds of basic rates charged
by car rental companies: daily rates with all mileage billed
extra; daily rates with a limited number of free miles per day;
daily rates with unlimited mileage; and a rate that has free
mileage over an extended period of time. Naturally, all rental
car agencies charge different rates based on the size and style
of the vehicle, with most firms renting economy, compact,
intermediate and deluxe cars. Tip–renting a car for a full week
is often cheaper than renting for five days.

An important consideration when renting a car is the length of
time you will be needing the vehicle. If its less than a week,
youll probably find lower rates with a major, national company
like Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz or Thrifty.
For rentals of a week or more, you may get better prices from
local companies, especially auto dealers. Be wary of local
companies if you plan to drive quite a few miles; if you have a
break down or an accident, they usually lack the services and
support of the major companies.

The basic rate you see advertised in big print in magazine,
newspaper and television ads, are only the tip of the iceberg
when it comes to car rental costs. Surcharges (usually in the
form of taxes) are sometimes the result of greedy cities,
states, airports or the rental car company itself. Whoever is at
fault, these nasty little add-ons can boost your total rate by
as much as 50%. Sales taxes, airport taxes, concession fees,
vehicle leasing fees, and drop-off fees often dont show up when
youre quoted a base rate for renting a car. Renters sometimes
find themselves charged other miscellaneous fees, such as a bill
for the shuttle that brings them from the airport to the car
rental parking lot, or an expensive fee for additional drivers.

The best remedy to reduce contract shock is to use travel
agents, booking services and Web sites that disclose all fees in
advance. Some companies are taking away the mystery surrounding
car rental rates by offering total pricing for their cars.
Your total rental cost will be calculated prior to making the
reservation, guaranteed to be within one percent of the actual
rate.

An additional expense of renting a car is the insurance the
company sells. The term insurance, by the way, is a misnomer
since rental car companies arent licensed to sell insurance.
What they are selling are waivers, so youre not on the hook for
any damage caused in an accident.

The three kinds of waivers encouraged by the major car rental
agencies are as follows: physical damage waivers that cover any
harm done to the rental car; liability waivers that cover any
harm you do to others and their property while in the car; loss
damage waivers that cover theft, vandalism and loss of use,
which covers the rental fees the company might lose while the
car is being repaired.

Your personal car insurance might cover these occurrences, but
they might not! The only way to know for sure is to call your
auto insurer and ask about insurance coverage on rentals. Even
then, your personal insurance may not cover rentals abroad, or
certain vehicles such as SUVs, trucks, vans and campers. Do a
little research now, save yourself some money later.

When it comes to fueling plans you also have a variety of
options. You can: prepay for a tank of gas when you rent the car
(favored by the car agencies since you probably wont use a full
tank); the worst deal is simply turning the car back in empty
since you could be charged about $5 a gallon plus a re-filling
fee. The best choice–pay for only the gas you do use. Make sure
the tank is topped off when you pick up the car, and leave
yourself enough time to find reasonably-priced gas near the
airport on the day you leave so you can re-fill the car yourself.

Always comparison shop, even on the Web. Major car rental
companies often offer Web-only discounts–take advantage of them
whenever possible. Check the Car Rental Center, as well as the
individual car rental sites. Ask about discounts for membership
in national organizations (like AAA or AARP) or special rates
for frequent-flier programs or credit card plans you may enjoy.
They frequently offer good deals on car rentals.

Whether you book online or by phone, you can usually get a much
better price by renting well in advance of your trip, especially
if you reserve during a low travel season and travel in a high
season. Make sure to ask the agent about restrictions,
additional fees and insurance costs.

Finally, be careful to coordinate pick-up and return times so as
not to be charged for an extra day. Best wishes for safe
traveling.br

Travel Insurance Fraud, Dont Let It Happen To You

Author: Carl Hampton -br
Source: articledashboard.combr
br
The California Insurance Commissioner has ordered Trip Assured to stop doing business in the state of California. This Tennessee-based travel insurance company was apparently defrauding companies. But Trip Assured claims that what they were selling in California was not travel insurance. The Commissioner finds their claim undeniable since what they were selling could easily fall into the insurance category or definition. Trip Assured s main marketing target is senior citizens.

California decided to take action once notice was taken that other states like Michigan, Texas, Florida, and North Carolina were taking similar actions against Trip Assured. Upon further research, Trip Assured denied 30 claims in California and there were 76 claims filed against them (in the last 36 months) with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). However the BBB states that those claims were addressed by Trip Assured although those that filed the claims would not agree with that assessment of the situation. There are also other travel insurance companies that have claims filed against them which is unfortunate since the travel insurance industry is growing rapidly, especially for those expensive vacation trips. The BBB in Tennessee has now revoked their (Trip Assured) membership – you would think that would mean something since the company is based in Tennessee.

Here is an example from one of the claims made against Trip Assured. Sylvia Resnick is a senior citizen that booked a trip just for herself to Europe as well as a cruise while in Europe. She purchased Trip Assured through her travel agency at the time of booking the trip. It had taken her a long time to save up for the vacation that was to be that trip of a lifetime. During the vacation, she suffered serious back injuries and had to cancel the cruise. As soon as she arrived home she saw her doctor and obtained a doctors note that stated that she could not continue with the cruise due to the injury. As required by the policy she sent that note to Trip Assured expecting to be paid out under the terms of the agreement. It came as a total shock when they denied her claim and thus did not return her money.

There are two questions here. The first is why would an insurance company that is supposedly aimed at satisfying their clients put this senior citizen through this? The second question is how could the BBB view this situation (and situations just like this) as resulting in a satisfactory outcome?

Be very careful the next time you invest in trip insurance. For those of you who have already purchased Trip Assured, you can contact their bank. It is First National Bank of Tennessee and the hotline number is 931-707-3561, but that hotline is only effective for MasterCard customers, but call nonetheless to see what non-MasterCard customers should do. Hours of operation are 6 am. to 2:30 pm. Pacific Time. If you want to make a complaint, contact the state Department of Insurance at 800-927-4357 or you can file a complaint online at http://www.insurance.ca.gov./pbr

Affordable Medical Plan – When it Comes to Health Insurance, Knowledge is the Key

Author: Andy Ryanbr
Source: ezinearticles.combr
br
When buying health insurance policies it is important to make sure that you get exactly what you need for everyone in your family. Getting the an affordable medical plan at the lowest price is not easy and it is all too easy to buy what seems cheapest and then find out that you are not covered when you most need the help for hospital care, trips to the doctor and emergency treatment and this can end up costing you a lot of money.

Understanding exactly what is on offer is vital and various terms may not immediately make a lot of sense to you. Find out about medical insurance and what these things mean but also make sure that you stop the person trying to sell to you, that is what they will do as soon as you contact them, and ask them to explain precisely what the jargon means.

In fact writing down what you want and what you need to ask about is a good plan of attack before you contact a health insurance provider.

There are various ways to purchase your medical cover and one is to deal via an agent who works for a specific insurance firm and get your information from him, or her. Remember that you are only getting information about the schemes and policies that the agents particular company offers.

Alternatively, contact a broker who has access to a number of different medical insurance providing companies and can search through a number of deals to find the best one for you. These service should not cost you anything because the agent and the broker earn their fee from the actual insurance cover provider.

Sometimes it is possible to join an organisation and benefit from the medical insurance offered by them. There are many such schemes in operation and joining professional groups, unions, clubs, and associations are just a few examples of the possibilities available.

If you discover that becoming a member of such a group can help you with health and medical benefits, it is surely worth considering as an option. A low fee as a payment to join such a group might just save you a considerable amount on your medical cover and enable you to find an affordable medical plan.

Insurance Professional Sales Tips – Do Worthless Insurance Purchases Bother You?

Author: Donald Yerkebr
Source: ezinearticles.combr
br
Insurance Professional sales tips rarely reveal the split personality of many insurance sellers. The agent may sell prospects worthless insurance purchases initially while closely reviewing all insurance later. See how these sales practices are so unprofessional, yet how frequently they are used.

Beneath the clean cut skin of an insurance sales agent is often a diamond-eyed, double talking boneless reptile with one goal.. That goal is to always make a money-making sale, needed or not. A word of caution though, a stack of bills to pay, can transform an honest agent into a very slippery snake. What else makes this agent make sales in a manner that no insurance professional would normally do?

The sales tips the agent were originally taught is the cause of evil devious doings. The agent eyes converge on commission spotlights. Instead, the agent must focus the center of attention towards what is right for the prospect. Nevertheless, most agents do not experience a guilt trip if they have someone purchase a rather useless insurance policy. If a prospect needs a major medical plan, should sales of accident only coverage or cancer insurance be offered? What if the prospect says the major medical coverage is not affordable? Then should the agent walk away with no sale, or convince the prospect that cancer insurance or accident only coverage might at least be a partial solution, thereby making the sale?

Tomorrow, the day after the say, is always a time of reckoning for the agent. Either the manager will give out a tongue lash for not making a sale, or give a pat on the back for at least selling something. My sales tips indicate some unprofessional truth. Even when an agent finally becomes a professional, they still revert to making any kind of sale on their first visit. Few are truly professional enough to walk straight away, knowing that making the wrong sale is easy on the wallet and hard on the conscience.

If an insurance agent lasts long enough to review his present clients insurance, suddenly wings of an angel start to sprout. Here is where the policy review session reveals all. The insured brings out all life and health insurance in effect bought from any agent. Immediately an experienced agent can spot if there is a huge unfilled gap in insurance coverage. Also uncovered are any worthless insurance purchases made by the client. Here again $$ cloud the agents eyes. Two paths are available, but which should be taken?

The easy path is the least challenging, and has the largest change of success, however it is not professional. The insurance agent has to simply crumble up the unnecessary policies bought, and tell the client it was good the coverage was not used. Then these premiums are used to pay for some added coverage that the client needs. Same payments and better coverage can sound like a winner.

A true winner (professional) agent bets on personal quality and skills, with the determination to do a better job. He or she risks it all by telling the policyholder that all the coverage owned may be outdated. Purchasing proper life insurance, major medical, and disability income might mean a 50% increase in yearly premiums. Dropping less critical coverage might lower the amount of increase. Does the client want the best possible coverage for the least money, or does the client want every agent that comes along to write another insurance policy?

These are Insurance Professional Sales Tips that require ethics that many money hungry agents will never acquire.

Home Owners Insurance – Loss of Use and Liability

Author: Marcel A Johnsonbr

Loss of use is one type of property coverage that is important for your home. If your house is damaged to such an extent that you cannot live in it, your living expenses for that time being will be covered by this coverage while your house is being rebuilt. It will also take care of your basic necessities such as clothes and other immediate means. Liability coverages are also important for your home to ensure its stability in case of disaster. If you have guests over at your house, and one of them trips on the staircase and injures himself or if your pet harms anyone in the neighborhood, your insurance company will provide you with the coverage for medical expenses as well as any legal defense. You should have enough liability coverage to provide for all your assets. An umbrella liability policy, although has higher premiums, but it covers all of your underlying policies such as your vehicles, homes and water crafts. An umbrella policy will envelop all of these policies but it is up to you as to how much coverage you need. Whether it is one million, five million or even ten million dollars. However, remember that most of the people to not sue for anything less than a million dollars. If you own high priced items, you will want to schedule them as a part of your home insurance. Such items can include jewelry, computers or a fur coat. To be able to schedule them you will be required to have a bill of sales. By doing so, you are also protecting these items in case they are damaged. If, for instance, you laptop falls and breaks, the expense to repair it is covered only if it was scheduled. If not, then you would have to pay for it yourself. Once you own a home you also want to be careful about making claim against your policy. Frequent claim activity, even for the small stuff can be grounds for non renewal and or increased premiums.br
