Continues from part 1 planning a holiday; the essentials Please read that article first.

If you are travelling further a field then you may have many more factors to consider, such as inoculations, extra cover, etc. More far flung destinations, such as Africa for example, still have diseases such as malaria that are especially prevalent. It is also recommended that you should be inoculated against other diseases such as; Yellow fever, Typhoid, Hepatitis A, Polio (may already be covered) and others your doctor may recommend. It is important to note; both Typhoid and Hepatitis A can be caught from contaminated food and water. Wherever possible, use bottled/boiled water, avoid raw or under cooked food, such as shellfish, salads and fruit. Ensure you have insect repellent in both the form of a spray and a plug in unit for the room you are to sleep in.

If you are to be pursuing an adventure or activities holiday, you should seek insurance that covers for dangerous activities. Examples such as climbing, water sports and bungee jumping (even a safari trip) will make you a much higher risk to the insurance company and therefore they will most probably not cover you on a standard policy. Another grey area many travellers may find themselves taking part in is scuba diving. It is important to check that this will be covered under your policy as not all insurers provide cover for this as standard.

You should still be able to find a cheap travel insurance policy if you are internet savvy and use a comparison site for example. This will help you find the cheapest quote to meet your circumstances. Another thing to consider is the number of times you intend to travel within a year, if you are going to travel 2-3 times, a multi-trip policy will save you money. If you are a frequent traveller you may well save much more money by taking out an annual travel insurance policy. If you are in any doubt as to which one to go for; try finding a single trip policy price then multiply this by the number of times you will be travelling in said year. With this figure in mind get a quote for a multi trip or annual policy and see how much money you will save.

Another important factor to consider, especially when travelling by long haul flights is; DVT (deep vein thrombosis) this is where a blood clot is formed in the veins of the lower legs due to thickening of the blood, caused by air pressure/lack of movement and worsened by dehydration. You can help to combat this by drinking plenty of water, exercising your legs/ankles (most airline now have instructional videos) and taking a walk down the aisle every now and again.

When planning your trip, to whatever location, it is prudent to carry out some research online and find out any requirements and essentials you may need. Once you are fully prepared you can look forward to and enjoy your well deserved holiday!/pbr

Travel insurance is pretty much an essential ingredient in all travel plans. But to find the right package at the right price can be a bit of a task.

When your purchasing your travel insurance, you will usually only consider buying the insurance package for the trip or vacation that you are going to be taking at that particular time. When you take out insurance your home or car, you would purchase that insurance for the whole year. The reason for that is because you require continual insurance coverage. So looking from the perspective of a regular traveler. It is much more costly to purchase your travel insurance singularly every time you wish to travel as opposed to purchasing all year round coverage as you do for your car and home. That is why so many insurance companies now offer annual travel insurance.

Do You Travel For Business Or Pleasure?

Despite whether you travel for business or for pleasure, it is essential that you have travel insurance for peace of mind in case anything should go wrong. If you travel regularly for business or for pleasure, we advise you not to buy your travel insurance singularly for every trip as you take it, why not enquire with your current car or home insurer as to whether they offer annual travel insurance. Your annual travel insurance will cover all your traveling for the entire year, no matter how many times you travel in that year. A good point to consider is that if you can obtain your annual travel insurance from your current insurer, then you will be able to add it to your current household bill. Even have it directly debited from your bank account so that you will be able to travel with peace of mind and know that you will be constantly fully protected on your travels.

Phone And Ask For Bids

If you are not sure if your current car or home insurance company offers annual travel insurance, then call them on the phone and ask your insurance representative that handles your policy. We advise that you do not accept the first quote you are given. Enquire at other insurance companies as to how much they would charge for their annual travel insurance policies.

Get The Best Deal

Although it can be handy to group all your insurance into one payment with one insurance company, you will still not want to have that convenience if the cost is going to be greater than with another company. If you can find annual travel insurance cheaper with another insurance company, then use that quote to negotiate with your current provider. It is unlikely that they will want to lose your business and highly probable that they will reduce their quote to match that of their competitor.

When all is said and done, it all really just comes down to being safe, secure and confident that you will be covered in all situations whether your traveling for business or for a vacation.

Travel insurance is an important investment when it comes to taking a holiday. It gives you financial piece of mind so you can enjoy and relax on your well deserved holiday. However more and more Brits are now paying over the odds for their travel insurance. British holiday trends are changing, they’re changing from short frequent trips throughout the year to just one during the summer months. The frequent trips benefited from an annual travel insurance policy; however people are still taking out annual travel insurance, even if they now only go on one holiday per year. You can save a lot more money if you only take out the appropriate policy for the one trip. If you only plan a single holiday per year then people can save a lot more money if you only take out insurance for when you need it. Recent statistics show now that 50% of all Brits only take a single holiday per year. However providers argue that those who will take out policies for when they need it are leaving it until the last minute, where they will be losing out on the best deals. If you consider to only taking out a policy for a single trip, then you’ll have to take it out around the same time that you book your holiday, and with so many people booking last minute deals, people find themselves buying travel insurance at the last minute. Insurers say that when you purchase insurance at such a late stage, you have the tendency to rush the process, and end up paying more than what you should have to. No matter when you decide to take out your policy, always search online for cheap insurance. Planning on going on more than one holiday a year? Try annual travel insurance. Always do a travel insurance comparison before you buy, to find yourself the cheapest deal.
